Spring in zoo 2

Another fieldwork day at the zoo.
A pair of geese – the brooding one and the calm guardian – makes us stop.
But it is the sun, the garden, the quiet atmosphere that keeps us here all morning.
We attune to the rhythm of this particular place.
We begin to think differently, and we start to discuss theoretical concepts.
We wonder about the colder, more distant, more obscure assemblages of the zoo. What connections are here?

We look at the face of the nesting goose, her beak opening and closing again and again.
Even in the quiet soundscape, we hear no sound from her.
A small, soft feather flutters in her beak.
The distant rumble of the construction site reminds us of… What was that concept again?

The nest lies on a moss-covered rock; the area is cordoned off with a thin red band. The human walkway is far away.
The guardian goose is relaxed, resting all the time.

Only two metres from the goose nest, there is a common gulls’ nest.
The neighbours seem to get along well.

Discussion of theories and distant connections feels impossible here, in the middle of vivid multispecies happenings.
